Greetings from the Chairman

Citizens of Israel, Cherished Voters, Shalom.

I greatly appreciate the honor that has fallen into my lot, to serve in the role of Chairman of the Central Elections Committee for the 20th Knesset – a highly significant role for Israeli democracy. Democracy is elections, and elections are democracy. On Elections Day, the citizen is the one who influences and determines the makeup of the legislature and the leadership of the country. We at the Central Elections Committee are committed to carry out the elections for the Knesset and to insure their integrity. The integrity of the elections is top priority, and in essence, it will be achieved when you go and vote according to your conscience. It is imperative that you vote for whom you choose in a conscious and rational manner. The conscientious voter who places the voting slip into the ballot box after s/he considered the platforms and notions of the various parties is the voter who maximally realizes the principle of democracy.

Accordingly, on the web site of the Central Elections Committee you will find information that can help you reach a logical decision: You can read the press releases, have a look at the lists of candidates, and read my various decisions. In addition, on the site you will find a wealth of information regarding the laws and proceedings pertaining to the elections, the authority and activities of the Central Elections Committee, statistical data of the elections since the founding of the State, and more. We at the Committee take very seriously the importance in making the elections accessible to the entire population, with an emphasis on the voters and on the candidates.

I wish you pleasant viewing and a good voting experience,

Justice Salim Joubran,

Chairman of the Central Elections Committee for the 20th Knesset
